Today let's continue talking about other chakras, mainly the throat, third eye, and crown chakras. I analysed the meaning of the chakras and I will describe ways how to unblock them. Thus this may help you to improve your health and find inner peace.

Visuddha Chakra - Throat Centre

Location: the base of the throat

Colour: Sky Blue

Planet: Mercury/Budha

Zodiac sign: Gemini & Virgo

Element: Ether

Crystals: Sapphire, Lapis Lazuli, Amazonite, Aquamarine, Turquoise

The seed mantra: Ham

Affirmation: ‘Communicate honestly and directly

Nature of consciousness: speaking our truth

The throat chakra represents communication and expression including communication between the body and brain. Also, curiosity, open-mindedness, intelligence, clarity, creative verbal expression, and a healthy lifestyle, and connect our feelings and intuition with our thoughts to become conscious and act on them.

The throat chakra moves away from the physicality of the chakras below. Its boundaries are less physical, and more fluid by being more into sharing knowledge and thoughts.

The throat chakra similarly to the sex chakra is linked with creativity. Moreover, it is linked with creative communication, and expression because the formation of language is an inherently creative process.

The unbalanced throat chakra leads to having a sore throat, loss of voice, neck and throat conditions, an over and under-active thyroid, headaches, insomnia, flu, and even cancer. Also, there may appear problems with expression and communication. Moreover, you may hold back in voicing your opinions or showing your thoughts, or feelings, or you may dominate conversations and discussions. You may also have difficulties with expressing your needs or having them met. Additionally, you may be difficult, tactless, deceitful, judgmental, harsh-voiced, and have false pride.

The balanced throat chakra makes your throat healthy, you express yourself, your feelings, and ideas effectively, and clearly, so you can be heard in your voice. Also, your creativity, maturity, and inspiration lets you deal with yourself and others in an honest, compassionate, and tactful way. Also, you are well organised, not hectic or self-destructive and you can experience a sense of serenity and devotion.

To balance the throat chakra you can chant mantras because the throat chakra works on the level of vibration and chanting works with the vibration of the sound that is purifying. Also, practicing pranayama calms the nervous system and enhances the quality of voice, by making it clearer, deeper, and fuller. You can practice Bhramari/ Humming Bee Breath and Ujjayi pranayama/Victorious Breath.

Bhramari:

1. Sit comfortably erect, or lie down with bent knees. Close your mouth, relax your jaw, and keep your teeth apart. Put your tongue gently to the roof of your mouth and turn a simple humming more into a bee humming sound.

2. Inhale fully and exhale while making a humming sound. The vibration comes from the soft palate at the back of your mouth. Widen the inside of your mouth. Hone your awareness of the vibration to expand it to your throat, head, and the whole body.

Start practicing at 2 minutes and over time start to increase up to 5 minutes.

Then sit or lie and enjoy your experience.

If you start to feel agitated, dizzy or feel any tingling just stop and come back to normal breathing.

Ujjayi:

1. Sit in a meditative pose. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth while making the sound ‘haaaa’ like fogging up a mirror. Do a few cycles.

2. Then close your mouth midway through your exhalation while continuing ‘haaaa’ with your lips closed. Say a ‘hm’ sound, you should feel it in the back of your throat.

Cover your ears with your palms and listen to the ocean sound.

3. Bring it now, to the inhalation. Open your mouth and make the ‘haaaa’ sound as you suck in the air. Close your mouth midway through to experience the throaty frictions and cover your ears to find out if you get the ocean sound.

4. Close your mouth and continue the internal ‘hm’ breathing. Start with 10 to 20 breaths in a sitting position. Return to normal breathing whenever you feel like it.

You do not need to breathe loudly or aggressively. Focus on the quality such as the length and steadiness, not the volume. Do long inhalations to fill your lungs fully, and exhale slowly and steadily through your nose. Swallow after a complete exhalation.

Several rounds of Ujjayi will center you. You can practice while you walk and whenever you feel stressed. Practicing Ujjayi during asanas will focus your mind.

Do not practice if you have constipation or backache, or feel tired, because exertion might be harmful to your lungs and heart. Do not practice after intensive asanas, and before pranayama practice a few reclining asanas.

Ajna Chakra - Third Eye Chakra

Element: Pure Essence

Crystals: Lapis Lazuli, Sodalite, Azurite, Dumortierite, Fluorite

The seed mantra: OM

Affirmation: ‘I am open to my inner guidance, or ‘I follow my inner guidance'

Nature of consciousness: union with consciousness (Purusha) with power (Shakti)

The third eye chakra is linked to the brain and nervous system. Also, governs the hormonal system including the pituitary glands in the brain, the ears, nose, eyes, and sinuses. Furthermore, represents your intuition, imagination, visualisation, and clairvoyance and is linked to your intellectual and psychic abilities.

The unbalanced third eye chakra can manifest in spiritual pride, a sense of superiority, pretentiousness, need for recognition and admiration. Additionally, there may be present issues related to attachment, sentimentality, emotional instability, moodiness, greed, broodiness, selfishness, self-absorption, emotional stagnation, hoarding, and self-pity.

You may suffer headaches, eye, ear, nose, and sinus conditions as well as hormonal imbalances, insomnia, nervous disorder, depression, and depletion of serotonin. The reason for that is not using your creativity. Furthermore, you might have problems with focusing, concentrating, feelings of confusion, and have a negative approach to life. You may lack a sense of direction, and experience intellectual stagnation, so for example you spend a prolonged time in a job that you don’t like. It may benefit you if you make sure that your work is in harmony with what you believe.

The balanced third eye chakra gives you the ability to observe your thoughts and feelings without being overly attached to them. You can have a good level of direction and devotion, and high ideas. You have a good imagination and sense of oneness, and a feeling of unity, and your integration helps you to overcome your anxiety.

When the third chakra is fully awakened then mastery of the self and self-realisation is experienced.

You can balance the third eye chakra by meditation, which is key to opening this chakra.

You may also sit in a quiet place and concentrate on your breath. Let your breath go to the area just above and between the eyebrows. You can also do colour meditation. Try to visualise the chakra colors from red, through orange, yellow, green, sky blue, dark blue, then violet.

Saharsana /Crown Chakra

Colour: Purple

Element: Boundlessness

Crystals: Amethyst, Clear Quartz, Lepidolite, Selenite, White Agate

The seed mantra: no seed mantra but you can chant OM

Affirmation: ‘My soul is boundless and infinite'

Nature of Consciousness: union with absolute spirit (Brahaman)

The crown chakra represents your own immortality and vastness and is the gateway to the Supreme Spirit. Also, is linked to the brain, the whole nervous system, and the pineal gland. Moreover, is about transcending materialism, letting go of physical attachments, and searching for meaning, spiritual enlightenment, self-realisation, and eventually, liberation.

The unbalanced crown chakra may lead to cerebral tumors, increased pressure in the skull, psychoses, neuroses, depression, and insomnia because the crown chakra is linked to the pineal gland, which produces melatonin that is vital for healthy sleep. Seasonal Affective Disorder Syndrome may be caused by an unbalanced crown chakra. You may experience a sense of isolation, loss of direction, low energy levels, fatigue, and a tendency towards having a closed mind.

The balanced crown chakra makes you feel a sense of unity with others without suffering a loss of your own individuality, you do not experience distortion, and are able to acknowledge enlightenment that is born of wisdom. You can follow your own ethical ideas and are not overly influenced by the opinions of others and outside forces.

Yoga:

Sukhasana/Easy Seat Pose

Siddhasana/ Perfect Pose

Vajarasana/Kneeling Pose

Balasana/Child Pose

Sirasana/Headstand Pose

Sasankasana/Hare Pose

Yogamudrasana/Yogic Seal Pose

These are the main seven chakras but there are more such as the higher earth chakra, the earth chakra, (below your feet)the higher heart chakra (above your heart chakra), and the higher crown chakra 1 and 2 ( above your crown chakra). For the higher earth chakra, you can use a bloodstone that has cleansing and stabilizing properties. Then for the earth chakra use a smoky quartz that will ground and protect you; for the higher heart chakra use a rose quartz that will open you to unconditional love; for the higher crown chakra 1 use a labradorite which will help you to open spiritual communication and for the higher crown chakra 2 use a clear quartz which will help you to reach enlightenment.

The challenge for this week is to use crystals for all your chakras. Pick the crystals intuitively but remember about choosing the right crystal for the right chakra. You may light candles, (I love organic soya candles), burn incense, and put on relaxing music. Lie down with crystals on your chakras for an hour. Repeat for seven days and see how you feel. I really wonder about your experience. My first experience with crystals was magical.

Next week I will write about pranayama.

This is where I get my favorite candles: www.spapower.eu
